Emergency Medicine
FDC provides public classes in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid , as well as Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses to healthcare professionals.
FDC also provides initial and recertification courses in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) through the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians NAEMT.

Basic Life Support (BLS)
The Basic Life Support course teaches learners to recognize several life-threatening emergencies and to respond appropriately. Training includes instructions for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The course also covers relief of choking including interventions such as the Heimlich maneuver and back blows/chest thrusts. The BLS course curriculum includes rescue guidelines for infants, children, and adults.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
The ACLS certification course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiorespiratory emergencies such as cardiac arrest, pulmonary arrest, cardiac arrhythmia, myocardial infarction, and stroke. This includes physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, CRNAs, EMTs, paramedics, dentists, other healthcare professionals and students

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for healthcare professionals who provide care for pediatric patients in emergent situations. A large part of PALS is dedicated to recognizing and treating respiratory distress and respiratory failure, which are the most common, acutely life-threatening conditions in infants and young children. However, PALS training is comprehensive. We cover cardiovascular emergencies such as pediatric shock, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.
PALS is not simply ACLS for kids. It is a completely separate resuscitation approach. Infants and children experience different types of life-threatening experiences than adults. Pediatric patients often experience respiratory distress and shock before they enter cardiac arrest. PALS teaches providers to perform rapid, accurate assessments and timely interventions in pediatric patients.

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
This course that takes the world-class trauma care content from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and delivers it in a style that is relevant to EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians and other prehospital providers.
Covering life-saving interventions such as hemorrhage control and airway management, this course teaches critical trauma concepts, demonstrates skills, and walks students through potential patient scenarios.
